Labor is blossoming or dancing where the body is not bruised to pleasure soul.

O chestnut-tree, great-rooted blossomer,
Are you the leaf, the blossom or the bole?
O body swayed to music, O brightening glance,
How can we know the dancer from the dance?

— W. B. Yeats, ‘Among School Children’

Just a quick update.  For those of you with an eye for hunts, Depraved Nation’s ‘Jack or Jill’ hunt is kicking off in February.  two paths, one full of stuff for boys, one full of stuff for girls (and that I’ll probably find I can get away with).

The shirt, tie, and jacket that I’m wearing in this photo are Citrus’ contribution to the hunt.  I’d had the Robin (Sojourner) Wood mannequin to the left – Boris Manishnikov – sitting around waiting to get photographed, and when I saw that the Citrus hunt item was named ‘Dancer’, well. 😉

The necktie shows you why the name ‘Dancer’ was chosen for the outfit, I think. 🙂
The jeans and shoes are also from Citrus; the skybox is barnesworth anubis, and the painting behind is “Cattleya Orchids” by Ishtari Designs.

You can find out more about the hunt by clicking here.

It’s just the same old story, a fight for love and glory, a case of do or die…

…the same gruesome drama occurs, as the internet goes by

So apparently, a bit of mudslinging is ensuing out there on the internet.  No, that’s nothing new at all.  Someone is always snippy about someone else’s comments on the internet; I just had someone blow up in my face because I pointed out some rather distinct differences between the American Revolution and the Confederacy deciding to part ways with the Union.
People are gonna get their knickers in a twist no matter what you say.  People are going to get them more in a twist when you say what they’re doing is shitty.  You can especially spot twisted knickers when one person says ‘that other person, they’re mean’ and the other person’s response is to be ridiculously mean.

Here’s something I saw some years back which may be of help to a few folks.  It’s a Livejournal post from a million years ago, called ‘Internet Drama and You’.  The author was someone I roleplayed with on Livejournal ages and ages ago, and whose sense of humor manages to pull the teeth of a lot of this kind of bullshit.

Without further adieu, then, some thoughts on pretendy fun-time games.

This is not meant to belittle anyone.  You have a perfect right to be displeased that someone else was behaving badly.  You have every right to voice your anger about that behavior.  But sometimes, a body’s gotta remember a sense of scale.  You’re not pissed because someone is sodomizing your grandmother with a fork during Thanksgiving dinner: you’re pissed because someone’s being a jerk about your efforts to accomplish something in an online environment.  You’re not cheesed off because someone’s exploiting the third world to make cheap-ass nasty sneakers, you’re cheesed because someone’s made a little list of people to do harm over their opinions about something online.

I dunno.  I can’t say I’ve always been the sort who shrugs this kind of baloney off, but I can say I’ve tried to consistently be one for a while.  And I will say this: going for the atom bomb in response to people criticizing someone’s behavior just makes me think that their point is probably absolutely correct.

But why dwell on the shitty people.  Why dwell on being upset by people behaving upsettingly?

I dunno.  I really don’t.

If you stuck with me through all of that, you deserve a present.  Here ya go.

What’s New! (with Phil & Dixie?) with Lapointe & Bastchild

So Depraved Events is hosting Project Limited at present.  All the vendors are offering a limited edition item, which will only be available at this event.
I was honestly going to stop myself.  I was not going to go spend lindens.  But… but then came the notice from a certain Bastchild Lotus, informing me there was a jacket there.

So after dipping into the rainy day fund, I came home to roll around with my favorite snake, the Diesel Works ‘Serpent’ poses, and have a look at this little beauty.

As always, the L&B team haven’t skimped on the textures: there are three different ones for the jacket, and at least six for the T-shirt worn underneath.  You can wear it with, or without, the T-shirt add-on, too!

This particular design really caught my eye, and here’s my little snakey friend again to help me show you what appealed:

The big cross on the back was what really sold me on the thing.  Here it is a little more square-on, without the snake, too!  So you can see what the hey I’m talking about.

Isn’t that gorgeous?  The front’s just as lovely, too.

So that’s the Lapointe & Bastchild ‘Grimm Royale’ jacket, available for both boys and girls at Project Limited, which is located on the Metropolis sim (click to visit it!).

That’s what’s fresh (and for a limited time!) in SL, tonight!

Jacket & shirt: Lapointe & Bastchild “Grimm Royale” jacket set – available only at Project Limited, and for a limited time (there were only 36 left for the guys, when I bought this one!)
Jeans: L&B Mesh Jeans – Mens – Flats Boot Cut Dark Blue
Sunglasses: Kumaki Glasses Style “Samurai”
Hair: Dura “Dura-Boy*43 Black”
Skin: LOGO “Eternal Tristan – Pale – Clean Shaven Bald”
Hair Base: LANEVO MC Hairbase – Buzzcut – Bonnie Black
Hands: Slink “AvEnhance” Relaxed
Shoes: Latreia “Nate Skull”

There’s a new limited edition jacket at Project Limited now, as the 80 copies of Grimm Royale have sold. The new one is named Grimm Pistola, and has a similar style of design on it with a skull framed with pistols and the L&B fleur-de-lis crown. Really, it looks much better than I’m describing it!  And you can be one of the hundred people who get to own it.
Feel free to tug my sleeve if you need a copy of the promo texture!

We are the Hollow Men.

So I went browsing around for things to spend lindens on a few nights ago, and came up with… the Robin (Sojourner) Wood gacha at Oh My Gacha!, which is named ‘Manny’.  Manny is a little mannequin, of the sort an artist might have on his desk to draw from.  He’s cute! He’s rare! He’s debonair like Fred Astaire!

He’s resizeable! He’s bright! He sheds a light!

And of course, when he closes his eyes and contemplates the wheel of dharma, he’s mystical.

If you need Manny in your own home, visit the OMGacha fair and look for the Robin (Sojourner) Wood gacha there.  More information on OMGacha is here!
