A Leaf on the Wind – Being For the Benefit of Ms. Chandrayaan

Another blog post within 48 hours, you guys are gonna start expecting these!

So I got asked if I would share some of the goodies that are at the ‘A Leaf on the Wind’ event going on right now inworld. See, Scarlet Chandrayaan is very sick. This isn’t folks doing a benefit for her to deal with medical issues but instead, putting together some lindens so she can realize her dream of visiting London.

Folks who know me RL would not be surprised I would feel I had to participate in this little dream: London is one of my favorite places on the planet. So… I went around and picked up a few things, and brought them home.

In The Time of Titles

Since Nigel did it so much better than I’d hoped to, I bring you his post!

Trials of Eyeliner

There are few designers within SL to whom I would create an altar. Mr. Poet is one of them. He made a huge splash when sculpts were the Big Deal and I would visit the store at least once a month to look for more more more. And suddenly… nothing. My heart broke.

It is with great pleasure I found that he has returned to the world of creating- and creating in Mesh- to this month’s Men’s Department with the Military Drape Greatcoat Set. As with all creations from Mr. Poet, the outfit is layered so the shirt, vest, kerchief, jacket, and all of the attachments are individual so you can wear, mix and match at your leisure. Available in 5 color sets, 5 sizes, and all mix and matchable this return to creation is… ok, ok, I’ll stop gushing! Put more plainly: I love it.

S O R G O sale!

So I found out today that SORGO was having a sale on their goods- everything for L$50! Hurry hurry! So I ran over to shop, and wound up finding out that in addition to doing fun items for his gachas, Arscene Dubrovna also does eyewear… so I sampled a bit, and came home with a couple.

dark

This pair is called ‘Dark’: that’s the name it has, not a reference to the frames or something. I also picked up the ‘Tetsuo’ glasses in tortoise:

tetsuo

These both come with the ability to be worn as sunglasses, but I never see the point of sunglasses in SL, so you can just imagine… or go buy some yourself! The shop is just a click away (it’s just a click away, it’s just a click away…)

I hope you find something new to you that’s fun to view!

Stylecard:
Scarf: Mr.Poet ‘Wide Scarf’
Jacket & Shirt: AITUI ‘Layered Jacket – Black_m’
Hair: Wasabi Pills ‘Dylan – Ash’
Eyes: FATEwear ‘FATEeyes’
Skin & eyebrows: LOGO ‘Eternity Tristan Skin – Pale’
Glasses- see above. 😛

New livingroom

So I changed up my skybox, at long last. I realized, after getting my mitts on a skybox I liked the look of very much, that I’d actually been in the one I was last in for a year.
This one has some features I just love about a RL apartment, so. I’m not going to march you through everything about it, I’ll just share one photo:
sofa in nook
The sofa is from Pestique a while back (you can totally find it in the store): the coffee table is the gift from Domus in the still-going-for-a-few-more-days Homestuff hunt. The skybox and the overhead lights are both from Trompe Loeil: the skybox is at Collabor88; the overhead lights are at the Trompe shop. The wreath that you can ALMOST discern on the window was an advent gift from CIRCA- I don’t believe it’s now available. Oh, and the wall sconce of pipes and bottles is from Tarte’s machine at the current round of the Arcade, which you still have 4 days to get to.

What Fresh SL – why that name, anyway?

So many moons ago, when I was but a wee slip of a lad, I found the work of Dorothy Parker. She cracked me up hugely- just such a delightfully vicious wit to her. When I came to making an SL blog, I remembered a quote attributed to her (though apparently not actually something she said) in a biography. According to her biographer, she’d respond to the doorbell by saying ‘what fresh hell can this be?’, or would answer the telephone with ‘what fresh hell is this?’. From there, it was a short step to What Fresh SL as a blog title.

I’ve been having a lot of fun learning some basic skills on web design and graphics over the past year, so I figured it was time to trot out an actual logo. Or byline. Or a masthead. Anyway. A thing, what I graphicked.

Hopefully I’ll get plenty of use out of it- I had a lot of fun making it, at any rate!

Thrift Shop – Blissiere Scarves

I like keeping an eye on what turns up at The Thrift Shop. Every so often there’s something stunning that maybe I didn’t realize was for a male avatar, initially. So, here’s one that I am extremely pleased with.  These scarves are from Blissiere:  they come in two FOUR fat packs, with differing prints and colors on them.  Here’s the two fatpacks I had unopened: you can see the varying textures that are available here. These are intended to be unisex, so the creator didn’t do them as rigged mesh to allow you to resize them to fit your avatar (if you’re a kid, say…), or adjust how they’re sitting on your avatar (if you’re a guy). blissiere scarves - fatpacks Continue reading

A few photos from out and about.

So it’s been a bit since I updated, and while I’m nearly asleep, it occurs to me I’ve gotten some good photos so I should share them.

itadakimasu

I went by the Xiasumi School Festival event and played the living heck out of 8f8’s gacha there- this is a photo of why.  You can play that machine – and pick up a lot of other goods – at the event; there’s more data about it over here at Eloquence.

coffee

There’s a whole new slew of goodies over at the ‘Stuff lounge from Menstuff and Womenstuff designers: as I blog the Homestuff, though, I focused on those. More previews to come shortly at the Homestuff blog (and yes, I’ll link): in the meantime, the stools and table are from Follow Us !!, and the ‘Coffeeology’ poster is from PBM Enterprises.

bosch 2

I did a couple of poses for the Kamera Klub/Soundproof’s ‘living painting’ of Hieronymus Bosch’s ‘Garden of Earthly Delights’; none of my poses here.

Oh, and I made a logo for the pose shop.

posemodern

So yeah, I’ve been a bit of a busy bee, but there’s been some fun to be had!
