He’s Not To Be Reached.

He’s not to be reached, he’s to be reached
He’s not to be reached, he’s to be reached

Called the fool and the company,
On his own where he’d rather be
Where he ought to be, he sees what you can’t see, can’t you see that?

Maybe he’s caught in the legend,
Maybe he’s caught in the mood
Maybe these maps and legends
Have been misunderstood
Image
Down the way the road’s divided,
Paint me the places you have seen
Those who know what I don’t know
Refer to the yellow, red and green

Maybe he’s caught in the legend,
Maybe he’s caught in the mood
Maybe these maps and legends
Have been misunderstood

He’s not to be reached, he’s to be reached
He’s not to be reached, he’s to be reached
He’s not to be reached, he’s to be reached
Image
The map that you painted didn’t seem real
He just sings whatever he’s seen
Point to the legend, point to the east,
Point to the yellow, red and green

Maybe he’s caught in the legend,
Maybe he’s caught in the mood
Maybe these maps and legends
Have been misunderstood, been misunderstood

Is he to be reached? He’s not to be reached
Is he to be reached? He’s not to be reached
Is he to be reached? He’s not to be reached anymore

Berry’s Monday Meme: the Haunted meme

So here’s Berry’s question for us all:

Meme Instructions: What are you afraid of? What are you haunted by? Share some of your fears and if you can, create an image depicting one of them. Don’t forget to leave your link in the comments!

This was an easy one for me to identify, but it took some doing for me to find the right place to photograph it.  My worst fear is falling.  Yes, I know, I shouldn’t be afraid of falling, I should be afraid of the landing part! But still, that’s how it is. I remember forcing myself to the edge of the observation deck on the Empire State Building.  I remember being 20some stories up in a hotel that had floor-to-ceiling bay windows, and finally going to get a look out and downwards… by crawling on my belly into the bay. Here’s the story of a group of artists

who went deeply into the surreal… Image

And the one sim

that had to hold them all together. Image

It’s…

A Rusted Development. Image

(text inspired by the fact that I just spent almost 8 hours watching Arrested Development.  You will want to check this sim out soon, as A Rusted Development is going to be taken down within a few weeks! Hat-tip to Ziki Questi.)

Another Strawberry Singh meme, and some education!

So here’s this week’s:
Meme instructions: Blog a tutorial and teach me something that you think I might not know about (even if I do, doesn’t matter, do it anyways). The tutorial can be something within Second Life (how to build, create tattoos or clothes, pick up guys at info hubs, tie your virtual shoelaces, whatever…) or something in Photoshop or on any social network (just focus on something sl-related somehow). Make it informative, make it hilarious, make it whatever you like! I’d just love to learn something from you that you may be good at and are willing to share. Remember to leave your link in this meme’s post so others can come by and learn too!

I thought I would take the opportunity to teach you a little about how I get the photos I get in SL that people just go so gaga over.  These are probably going to be pretty straightforward instructions to anyone who’s bothered with the in-viewer post-production tools, but here we go!

Sandalphon: When Giants Walked The Earth

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Genesis 6:4, KJV

Nigel Riel is someone I’ve had the honor of knowing for *coughreallyfreakinglong* a good length of time.  I’m always impressed by his artistic expression and his meticulous attention to detail.
He just opened up the sim he’s been working on for some time, at long last, to visitors.  Care to take a peek? Image

I’m only going to give you oh… one corner of this sim, I feel I should point out.  I’d like to let you explore and find the pieces of beauty that are here on your own, and appreciate them without me having drawn scales over your eyes.

I’m most fascinated by the gargantuan sculptures Nigel’s done in the place, myself. I’m only in this photo to provide some scale as to HOW huge.

Image

They clutter the landscape here, these faceless giants, whether it be at the heart of the sim- Image

or atop the mountains.

Image

(in that previous one, the plant at lower-left is something Nigel created himself, as well).

And there are other tidbits, as well as these cyclopean forms.  Like this little theatre.

A Scion of the Most Serene Republic

Ahh Venice, a gem of brick and mortar, tile roofs and canals, crystalline blue water and marble.  Bustling by day, and by night a medieval maze of walkways and bridges, piazettas and wellheads.

A beautiful beautiful place, and one that perhaps you’ve always wanted to visit.  You should visit- I recommend it highly!  But if it’s outside your travel budget, you have options…

On Things Japanese (with a few haiku, via Strawberry!)

As you may have noticed from a recent post, I like Japan.  I like the culture, I like the look of the country, I like the architecture, I like the food, I lke the clothing.  This holds true in Second Life, as well: there’s some remarkable things being done by Japanese creators inworld, creators that many of us probably never even heard of.
I feel a little retrospective, today. Someone I know had his rezday today, and it got me to thinking about the fact my fifth is coming up.  Which got me to thinking about where I’ve been, where I’m going… and also thinking about what I was doing just at that moment! Continue reading

掘り出し上手 (清水寺)

The title, translated to English, is ‘Serendipity (Kiyomizu-dera)’.

So a few days ago, I got on a serious East Asian art kick, having had a RL encounter with the Terracotta Warriors of China’s first Emperor – part of the insane grave goods that were interred with him when he passed away.  They got me thinking about things Japanese, which got me thinking about Japanese woodcuts, which got me thinking about the kinds of insane kimono and furisode and hapi that you see in the 100 Poets series. Which got me wondering – what was in SL for someone who wanted to do something that was of that period? Continue reading

Burning Airlines Give You So Much More

China my China, I’ve wandered around and you’re still here
(which I guess you should be proud of)
Your walls have enclosed you, have kept you at home for thousands of years
(but there’s something I should tell you)
All the young boys, they are dressing like sailorsImage

Another one that Ziki Questi brought me, here’s the China sim, photographed to look like an ink painting on washi paper.  Beautiful bit of work, isn’t it?
