A Leaf on the Wind – Being For the Benefit of Ms. Chandrayaan

Another blog post within 48 hours, you guys are gonna start expecting these!

So I got asked if I would share some of the goodies that are at the ‘A Leaf on the Wind’ event going on right now inworld. See, Scarlet Chandrayaan is very sick. This isn’t folks doing a benefit for her to deal with medical issues but instead, putting together some lindens so she can realize her dream of visiting London.

Folks who know me RL would not be surprised I would feel I had to participate in this little dream: London is one of my favorite places on the planet. So… I went around and picked up a few things, and brought them home.

Thrift Shop – Blissiere Scarves

I like keeping an eye on what turns up at The Thrift Shop. Every so often there’s something stunning that maybe I didn’t realize was for a male avatar, initially. So, here’s one that I am extremely pleased with.  These scarves are from Blissiere:  they come in two FOUR fat packs, with differing prints and colors on them.  Here’s the two fatpacks I had unopened: you can see the varying textures that are available here. These are intended to be unisex, so the creator didn’t do them as rigged mesh to allow you to resize them to fit your avatar (if you’re a kid, say…), or adjust how they’re sitting on your avatar (if you’re a guy). blissiere scarves - fatpacks Continue reading

Where the Wild Things Are

The night Max wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind
and another
His mother called him “WILD THING!”
And Max said “I’LL EAT YOU UP!”
so he was sent to bed without eating anything.

-Maurice Sendak, ‘Where The Wild Things Are

I imagine that a lot of us are familiar with the book; I imagine some of us are even huge fans.  I’m one of those huge fans, I have to admit: just transcribing the above got me a little sniffly. When I heard about the Wild Things summer gacha I definitely wanted to have a look at it (and you should have a peek if you like wild animals, too! There’s some fun gachas there!)

Well, Uriah Eulenberg is also a fan of the book, apparently.

We’re all used to Balaclava!! (his store) producing intricately detailed funny little objects, like the wee robots that go ‘ping’, or the playset of construction equipment.  Here’s something he did for Wild Things as a gift.
A gift.
It is free.

It tells time (you can reset the clock to your own timezone; it’s SLT by default), and the little figures in the dome rotate around the fire, just like in the Wild Rumpus panel in Mr. Sendak’s book. Here’s a closer shot of them:

And yes, it’s a gift. That means you can have it for free if you visit the Wild Things Summer Gacha event! And ONLY if you visit the Wild Things event: it won’t be available in his store, or anywhere else, afterwards.

If you’re curious what other cleverness Uriah’s got out at his store, you should click here to visit Balaclava!!.

‘Tis the season…

…because, obviously I didn’t have anything else going on today, what with the MEGAstuff hunt kicking off tomorrow, The Arcade kicking off tomorrow, Fashion Pride a week and change out, and other stuff, Damien Fate of FATEwear was generous enough to put the whole blessed shop on sale for 50% off today.  So clearly I needed some new shirts and ties to go with the Edward suit I bought some time ago!

And here I am, blogging about it… Continue reading

Labor is blossoming or dancing where the body is not bruised to pleasure soul.

O chestnut-tree, great-rooted blossomer,
Are you the leaf, the blossom or the bole?
O body swayed to music, O brightening glance,
How can we know the dancer from the dance?

— W. B. Yeats, ‘Among School Children’

Just a quick update.  For those of you with an eye for hunts, Depraved Nation’s ‘Jack or Jill’ hunt is kicking off in February.  two paths, one full of stuff for boys, one full of stuff for girls (and that I’ll probably find I can get away with).

The shirt, tie, and jacket that I’m wearing in this photo are Citrus’ contribution to the hunt.  I’d had the Robin (Sojourner) Wood mannequin to the left – Boris Manishnikov – sitting around waiting to get photographed, and when I saw that the Citrus hunt item was named ‘Dancer’, well. 😉

The necktie shows you why the name ‘Dancer’ was chosen for the outfit, I think. 🙂
The jeans and shoes are also from Citrus; the skybox is barnesworth anubis, and the painting behind is “Cattleya Orchids” by Ishtari Designs.

You can find out more about the hunt by clicking here.

I Beat The Arcade

The final boss was hard.

I am wearing the tee*fy ‘feather headdress (RARE)’ from The Arcade, in this photo.  I had frankly assumed I’d never get it, but someone I knew got a spare in a trade, and we figured out what I could give her that she’d want in exchange for what I wanted.  Excellent!

I wanted it because of the frankly stunning level of detail in the textures, the beautiful sculpts.  It’s at The Arcade, for a limited time only (like, 2 more days!)

Boys of Summer at Depraved Nation (In Which We Are Official, and Play With Some Socratic Dialogue)

So the other day, i got signed on as a blogger for the Depraved Nation ‘Boys of Summer’ event.  This ought to be interesting!

Q: What’s this mean?
A: It means that in the forthcoming weeks, you’ll see posts from me about the various offerings that the Depraved Nation folks have lined up for the event. I imagine there will also be some new and exclusive items, they tend to get those in.

Q: OK, but what’s in it for me?
A: Aside from a passel of photos of yours truly in things you haven’t seen before to tempt you to crack open your wallet and part with your filthy filthy lindenbucks, The Boys of Summer is an event focused on Don Henley songs menswear from various designers, with an emphasis on summer.  So, I imagine we’ll be seeing plenty of tank tops, shorts, and sunglasses, just as an offhand.

Q: Oh that’ll be neat!  So what designers going to be there?
A: To my knowledge, Aitui, Belleza, deeR, Gabriel, Insanya, KOSH, Lapointe & Bastchild and Razor will all be there… I suspect Vengeful Threads might also be.  And probably many more!

Q: When does all this Summery Boyish goodness happen, then, Nath?
A: July 8 is the start and July 31 is the ending date.

Q: How do I find out more?
A: You can follow this blog, I’ll be posting about things.  Additionally, there is a link up at the top of this post, which I’ll repeat right here!

Q: Can I have a side of toast with what’s fresh in SL?
A: Sure: whole wheat, white, or sourdough?

I’m not including a photo, as I don’t want to confuse anyone into thinking that the summerwear I’ve got in my inventory right now is something that’s going to be at the Boys of Summer. 🙂
