O chestnut-tree, great-rooted blossomer,
Are you the leaf, the blossom or the bole?
O body swayed to music, O brightening glance,
How can we know the dancer from the dance?
— W. B. Yeats, ‘Among School Children’
Just a quick update. For those of you with an eye for hunts, Depraved Nation’s ‘Jack or Jill’ hunt is kicking off in February. two paths, one full of stuff for boys, one full of stuff for girls (and that I’ll probably find I can get away with).
The shirt, tie, and jacket that I’m wearing in this photo are Citrus’ contribution to the hunt. I’d had the Robin (Sojourner) Wood mannequin to the left – Boris Manishnikov – sitting around waiting to get photographed, and when I saw that the Citrus hunt item was named ‘Dancer’, well. 😉
The necktie shows you why the name ‘Dancer’ was chosen for the outfit, I think. 🙂
The jeans and shoes are also from Citrus; the skybox is barnesworth anubis, and the painting behind is “Cattleya Orchids” by Ishtari Designs.
You can find out more about the hunt by clicking here.
…nope, not going to be doing this hunt.
As a gay man who doesn’t even hang around women much in Second Life, I swear that hear more about boobs on SL than a gynecologist doing double-overtime to try to pay for his son’s college education.
If you’re not in Second Life, the link above will likely be gibberish to you. And to compensate you for that, here, have something pretty and calming to look at.
Picture unrelated to topic, but gee, it sure is a pretty leftover from the Kiyomisu exploration, isn’t it?
Random thought the first:
Does a HUD-based easter-egg hunt in 11 of the laggiest sims that ever lagged lagfully seem like it could be a really bad idea? I hope it isn’t: I hope that it works better than it looks on ‘paper’, to tell the truth! If I’m obviously mistaken in your opinion, or you want to know more, you can find out more at the Fantasy Faire’s wordpress blog! I’m unlikely to participate myself: RL has gotten into crunch time, and hunts eat a lot of time. But I don’t doubt, based on what I’ve seen of the sims, that the goodies are going to be pretty high-quality.
So I found myself jabbering with somebody today about how much fun the third Crazy Hair Hunt was. Which led me to showing him some photos of the stuff I’d found, which led me to looking around and realizing oh, shit.
Not only is the designer who did the awesome mohawk that everybody jabbers on about the awesome of gone, but so is the designer who RAN the hunt. I’m dubious if there’ll be a fourth Crazy Hair Hunt, gorrammit.
So I’m wondering: do you know people who would be willing to take the time to do a silly hair that was in a set theme? Would they want to participate in a hunt that’d drive some traffic to their shops? Frankly, the crazy hair hunt had some amazingly clever stuff in it, and I feel like we’re missing out on new and fun weirdness in SL because we won’t have it.
